Russ Poldrack

Russ Poldrak is a professor of psychology at Stanford University, associate director of Stanford Data Science and director of the Stanford Center for Reproducible Neuroscience and the SDS Center for Open and Reproducible Science. Poldrack received his bachelor's degree in psychology from Baylor University and his PhD in experimental psychology from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, working with Neal J. Cohen. He was a postdoctoral fellow at Stanford University, working with John Gabrieli. Prior to his appointment at Stanford in 2014, he held faculty positions at Harvard Medical School, UCLA, and the University of Texas at Austin.

He is a cognitive neuroscientist who uses brain imaging to study how the brain gives rise to the mind. He is also deeply interested in improving the way that science is done, by providing researchers with tools and knowledge to help them do research that is more reproducible and more transparent.
