T&C Chen Center for Neuroscience Education
At Caltech, there are five different PhD Options where students can receive graduate training in neuroscience. They are Neurobiology, Computation and Neural Systems, Social and Decision Neuroscience, Bioengineering and Biology. Each of these training programs have unique features.
The Chen Institute sponsors two student led organizations on campus, namely Chen Institute Women in Neurocience (CWiN) and NeuroTechers. Both these organizations work to enrich the experiences and opportunities for graduate students.
The Chen Institute sponsors monthly events that bring together graduate students, postdoctoral scholars, scientific staff and faculty to share ideas, build community and encourage cross-disciplinary collaborations.
The Chen Institute Workshops are designed to introduce non-neuroscientists to some of the challenging problems facing our understanding of brain function.
The Chen Institute annual retreats offer graduate students a place to showcase their current research through talks and poster sessions. The informal structure aids in building camaraderie between faculty, postdocs, staff and grad students.
The Chen Institute provides fellowships to exceptional first-year graduate students in neuroscience options at Caltech. The fellows also have opportunities to attend special Institute events.
