Karin earned her BA in Neuroscience from Bowdoin College where she worked with Patsy Dickinson and Dan Powell studying how sensory and modulatory inputs interact to produce flexible motor outputs in the heart of the American lobster. Following graduation, Karin worked as a research associate at NYU in Kathy Nagel's lab. Here she studied how the Drosophila brain navigation center encodes odors with different valences. These experiences have shaped Karin's interests in how sensory information drives behavior and how organisms process sensory information differently based on their unique needs. Outside of the lab, Karin enjoys running and eating good food.
