Kamarya Buckley
Profile
Kamarya Buckley is an undergraduate student at the University of Maryland, Baltimore County (UMBC), where she is pursuing a B.S. in Biological Sciences with minors in Chemistry and Entrepreneurship & Innovation. She is a Meyerhoff Scholar and Howard Hughes Medical Institute (HHMI) Scholar whose current research investigates the genetic regulation of collective cell migration in Drosophila melanogaster. This summer, she is excited to explore the neural and evolutionary basis of social behavior in Drosophila while further exploring her interests in neurobiology and behavior.
Kamarya is broadly interested in cell biology, genetics, neuroscience, and the molecular mechanisms underlying complex behavior and disease. She hopes to pursue a Ph.D. in biomedical sciences and is especially interested in the future of personalized and precision medicine. In her free time, she enjoys cooking, going to the gym, listening to music, watching films, and spending time in nature.
