David Bjånes
Dr. Bjånes's research focuses on human brain-machine interfaces, including motor control, somatosensory feedback via cortical stimulation, and decoding internal speech. He currently directs a clinical trial in Richard Andersen's lab for spinal cord injury participants, seeking to restore dexterous hand function and somatosensation. He has authored more than 15 publications and received multiple NIH- and NSF-funded projects. Bjånes earned his Ph.D. from the University of Washington and previously trained at the University of Pittsburgh, Cornell, MIT, and others. His work integrates engineering, neuroscience, and clinical translation to restore and augment function in individuals with severe neurological impairment.
