Xuan Wan
Olivia Xuan Wan is a postdoctoral fellow in the Sternberg lab at Caltech. Her research journey began with undergraduate and master's studies in biomedicine and cancer biology at Hunan Normal University, The University of Texas at Dallas, and Southwestern Medical Center. She received her PhD from the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, where she began her work in behavioral neuroscience focusing on C. elegans. This multidisciplinary background fuels their current research. Her current research analyzes how worms utilize spatially separated detectors for efficient navigation and how sex and past experiences influence decision-making in C. elegans. She also is interested in interdisciplinary approaches to broader biomedical issues, such as developing a catheter to prevent urinary tract infections.
