Inés Zaragozá
Inés graduated with honors from her BSc at Ecole Polytechnique of Paris (France), where she studied a double mayor in Mathematics and Physics, and also did a minor in Biology. During her undergraduate studies, Inés was elected for Caltech's Summer Undergraduate Research Fellowship (SURF) and Caltech's Visiting Undergraduate Research Program (VURP). In the Lois Lab she investigated whether the membrane motion associated with action potentials in neurons can generate mechanical forces capable of regulating processes of neuronal physiology.
Although Inés has studied in institutions across several countries (England, Germany, France, Spain) and has experienced different research environments, she finds Caltech to be unique. Consequently, she has joined the Computation and Neural Systems (CNS) PhD program, where she seeks to combine her quantitative training with her strong interest in biological and biomedical sciences in order to shed light on fundamental problems in neuroscience.
